Affiliate Site SEO After the Helpful Content Era

The affiliates that survived the last two years of updates share a pattern: they stopped writing about casinos and started testing them. Google's systems now specifically evaluate whether review content demonstrates first-hand experience — and in gambling, they enforce it.
What 'first-hand experience' actually looks like
- Original screenshots of registration, deposit and withdrawal flows — not supplier press shots
- Verified payment times tested across methods, with dates
- Honest pros and cons, including negatives Google can cross-reference against user sentiment
- Named authors with demonstrable industry history and a review methodology page
Prune ruthlessly
Sitewide classifiers mean thin pages drag down strong ones. Almost every affiliate audit we run finds 40–60% of indexed URLs contributing nothing — outdated bonus pages, dead operator reviews, duplicate comparisons. Consolidating that content into fewer, better pages is consistently the single highest-impact intervention.
The affiliate model isn't dead. The lazy version of it is.
